The primary responsibility of the men of B Division is the operation and
maintenance of the ship's four "M" type boilers and associated fireroom
machinery. The steam produced is the power source for the Oklahoma City's 100,000
horsepower main propulsion plant, her four 750-kilowatt turbogenerators, fresh water
distilling plants, galley, laundry and all other steam driven machinery.
B Division is also responsible for the storage and transfer of fuel oil, fresh water and
boiler feed water.
