| Mid 18th Century European Sailing Ship |
| A typical 18th Century Frigate would be about 120 ft long and about 25 ft wide. This is equivalent to about three school buses long by two buses wide. Onboard there would be over 300 passengers occupying two levels below the main deck. A lower 3rd level would be used for cargo storage. Ships lists usually contained upwards of 150 adult male names. The adult females and children were not listed. The time it took to cross the open ocean from England to Philadelphia would be about 8 weeks. |
