| Heinrich Wilhelm Haupt and Maria Catharina Frederick b. Oct. 10, 1822 b. Dec. 24, 1833 d. Feb. 26, 1902 d. Jan. 6, 1916 Heinrich was born in Hesse-Cassel and Maria was born in Bern, Switzerland. Heinrich likely arrived on the ship "Arethusa" on July 29, 1852 which sailed from Bremen to New York. Ships records show he was age 29 and from Hessen. He migrated from NY to Winesburg, Ohio and with young family to St. Joseph, MO by 1859. Heinrich served with the Missouri 25th during Civil War and was wounded at Battle of Lexington, MO. Heinrich Wilhelm Haupt was a son of Georg Haupt and Johanna Amalia (Raabe) Haupt of Hesse-Cassel. Georg was a Master Cabinet Maker. Georg Haupt and Johanna Amalia (Raabe) Haupt b. Dec. 13, 1785 b. Oct. 27, 1820 d. Oct. 5, 1890 (also emigrated to US after 1858 and settled with others in family in Wathena, Kansas) Catharina - b. Nov. 18, 1818 d. July 9, 1888 m. Charles Rodge - b. abt. 1812 d. JSparkKC@aol.com It is possible that Georg Haupt of Hesse-Cassel is descended from the Haupt line in nearby Wolfhagen, Hesse-Cassel. See: Johannes Haupt of Wolfhagen. Georg may be a son of either Johann Heinrich Haupt (b. 1756) or Conrad Haupt (b. 1760) in Wolfhagen. Church records there would have to be consulted further to make this connection. |
