Rudolph Haupe/Hawpe and his wife Catherine (Heilman) Hawpe settled in Greenville, Augusta Co., VA. Their children were: Henry Heilman Hawpe (b. 1758), John Hawpe (b. 1759), Mary, Adam (b. 1767), Betsy (b. 1770), Susannah (b. 1773), and Emmanuel (b. 1775). Prior to Rudolph Haupe's move to Augusta Co., VA he was residing in Lampeter Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. He is believed to be a son of Heinrich Haup who died intestate in Lancaster Co., PA in 1743.
Bedford Co., VA
George Allen Houpt (b. 1829 d. 1895) migrated to Bedford Co., VA area about 1850. He married Susanna Weingard on Mar. 6, 1851 in Botetourt Co., VA. He was a son of Henry (b. 1807) and Sara Lightcap Houpt of Montgomery Co., PA. Henry (b. 1807) was a son of Henry (b. 1764) and Maria Martenba Houpt also of Montgomery Co., PA. Henry (b. 1764) was a son of Johann Samuel Haupt (b. 1725) and his wife Anna Margaretha (Appel) Haupt of Upper Dublin Twp., Montgomery Co., PA. Johann Samuel Haupt was born in Windesheim, Rheinland.
George Allen Houpt would serve for the Confederacy and would be captured during the Battle of Gettysburg in early July 1863. He would later be released from prison camp to family members in the Philadelphia area. George Allen Houpt's wife and children would join him in Philadelphia and they would remain there after the war.
Berkeley Co., VA (now West Virginia)
Johann Georg Haudt (Hout) married Catherine Nicodemus in Lancaster Co., PA. He with wife and young family would settle in the Martinsville, Berkeley Co., VA (now West Virginia). Their children were: Jacob Peter (b. 1755), Anna Maria (b. 1760), Peter (b. 1762), Georg Michael (b. 1764), and Rudolph (b. 1765).
Johann Georg Haudt is believed to be a brother to Rudolph Haupe (Hawpe) mentioned above of Augusta Co., VA.
Georg Haudt's marriage records indicate he was from Neyl near Kreuznach. I believe this should read Nahe as this is the name of the river that runs through Bad Kreuznach, Rheinland. Georg's will indicates he has a brother Peter living in Hagerstown, MD. This would be Peter Houte.
Jacob Peter Hout (b. 1755) s/o Georg married Barbara ______. Nothing more is known of this couple and children.
Peter Hout (b. 1762) s/o Georg married Rosannah Miller. They would have the following children: Heinrich (b. 1785), Mary (b. 1790), Georg (b. 1792), Jacob (b. 1794), Catherine (b. 1796), John (b. 1798), Adam (b. 1800), Elizabeth (b. 1803), Sarah (b. 1806), and Peter (b. 1809).
George Michael Hout (b. 1764) s/o Georg married Christina Strider. Their children were: Catherine (b. 1792), Elizabeth (b. 1794), Mary Magdaline (b. 1796), John George (b. 1798), Sarah (b. 1801), and Angeline Patrice Margaret (b. 1806).
Rudolph Hout (b. 1765) s/o Georg married Anna Margaretha Henselin. Their children were: Jacob (b. 1787), Georg (b. 1790), Heinrich (b. 1794), John (b. 1796), Maria Catherine (b. 1798), William George (b. 1802), and Joseph (b. 1805).
Giles Co., VA
Brig. General Herman Haupt purchased the Mountain Lake property in 1869. His family would run a resort hotel there until they sold it in 1891. No one from this family remained in the Giles County area after 1891.
Louisa Co., VA
Henry Philips Hapt and his wife Mary Hapt resided in Camp Creek, Louisa Co., VA in the late 1740's. They had four sons baptized there. They were: James Philips (b. 1741), William (b. 1743), John (b. 1745), and Joseph (b. 1748). Nothing more is known about this family or their descendants. Last name was likely further anglicized to another spelling.
Roanoke Co., VA
Simon Eli Haupt (b. 1864 d. 1898) and his wife Rener D. (Roberts) Haupt of Frederick Co., MD migrated to Roanoke, Roanoke Co., VA abt. 1890's. Their children were: Rosa D. (b. 1885), Willie Dee (b. 1888), Henry Earl (b. 1890), Ernest L. (b. 1892), Bertha May (b. 1894), and George Boone (b. 1896).
Simon Eli Haupt (b. 1864) was a son of Jonathan Haupt (b. 1819) and his wife Susanna (Smith) Haupt. Jonathan Haupt (b. 1819) was a son of Johann Heinrich Haupt (b. 1785) and Elizabeth (Delauder) Haupt of Middletown, Frederick Co., MD. Johann Heinrich Haupt was a son of John Nicholas Haupt (b. 1762) and Anna Margaretha (Ulrich) Haupt. Johann Nicholas (b. 1762) was born in Windesheim, Rheinland. He was a son of Johann Nicholas (b. 1725) and Anna (Schweiss) Haupt who settled in Nockamixon Twp., Bucks Co., PA.
Samuel Bryson Haupt (b. 1849) relocated to Roanoke, VA between 1880 and 1890. He was with the railroad industry. In 1880, he was in Altoona, PA. He is a son of Samuel Haupt (b. 1818) s/o Henry Haupt (b. 1795) s/o Philip Haupt (b. 1758 of Northumberland Co., PA) s/o Johann Samuel Haupt (b. 1725).
Scott Co., VA (and Lee Co., VA)
Valentine Houpt (b. 1765) and later his brother Anthony Houpt (b. 1781) lived for a while in Scott Co., VA from 1804 to 1820's. They were both from Iredell Co., NC. They were sons of Sebastian Houpt and his wife Catherine. Valentine with his family would migrate on to Rhea Co., TN (by 1820's). Anthony Houpt would migrate on to Sullivan Co., IN (by 1834).
Sebastian Houpt (b. 1745) was a son of Johann Nicholas Haupt (b. 1709) who arrived in Philadelphia in 1740 on the Loyal Judith. Sebastian with wife and young children would migrate down Great Wagon Road in the early 1770's.
