Some notes regarding the families above:

Haupt Family # 1 descends from a Haupt line in Radimer, Czech Republic.  This line dates back approximately 750-800 years. Descendants use Haupt in Europe.

Haupt Family # 2 descends from a Haupt line from Windesheim, Rheinland (Philip Haupt b. 1758 s/o Samuel Haupt b. 1725) of Montgomery Co., PA. Philip's descendants would use Haupt but Philip's other siblings would use Houpt.

Haupt Family # 3 descends from a Haupt line from Windesheim, Rheinland (J. Henry S. Haupt s/o Sebastian Haupt b. 1715) of Montgomery Co., PA. Most descendants would use Houpt with a few converting back to Haupt.

Haupt Family # 4 descends from a Haupt line from Windesheim, Rheinland (Valentine Haupt b. late 1740's in PA and likely s/o Johann Nicholas Haupt b. 1709) of Montgomery Co., PA.  All descendants of Valentine would use Houpt.

Haupt Family # 5 descends from a Haupt line from Windesheim, Rheinland (Sebastian Haupt b. 1745 in PA s/o Johann Nicholas Haupt b. 1709) of Montgomery Co., PA. Sebastian b. 1745 migrated to Iredell Co., NC in 1770's.  Later descendants of Sebastian b. 1745 would use Houpt in NC, TN, AR, and IN.  Houpe in NC (caucasions only), and Houp in KY.  The test results were of a Houp line in Kentucky that migrated there about 1840's.

Haupt Family # 6 descends from a Haupt line in Capetown, South Africa (Carl Albrecht Haupt b. 1724) believed to be from the Berlin/Brandenburg area.  All use Haupt in South Africa.

Haupt Family # 7 descends from a Haupt line that lived in Wanne-Eickel, North Rhine-Westphalia. Emigrated to the US in 1926 per ships manifest. Descendants use Haupt.

Haupt Family # 8 descends from Christian Haupt/Houpt s/o Valentine Haupt b. 1778 of Baltimore, MD. Descendants use Houpt.

Houpe Family # 11 descends from an African-American line that adopted Houpe name in 1860's from a white Houpe line living nearby in Iredell Co., NC. Genetically African.

Hawpe Family #12 descends from a Swiss line of Haabs. Perfect Y-DNA match with a Haab descendent.  Records and documents also confirm.  Rudolph Hawpe, 1760's Greenville, Augusta Co., VA

Additional notes on the above:
It is rather common for individuals within a surname group to be represented by different haplogroups.

Individuals with a known common ancestor may have marker values that are slighly different.  This is due to the fact that some markers are known to be quickly mutating.  An example would be marker DYS 442.

See individuals 2, 3, 4 and 5 above.  Their known common ancestor was 8-9 generations back or approximately 300 years.

Individuals 2,3,4, 5 and 7 are likely to have a much more distant common male ancestor - likely 500+ years back.

Haplogroups above in green have been confirmed through deep clade testing.

Individuals 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, and 12 tested with Family Tree DNA labs.  Individual 1 tested with Genomac labs in the Czech Republic.  Individuals 4 and 10 tested with Ancestry labs. #4 transferred results to Family Tree DNA.
One really should not compare results from different labs because some labs use different protocols.  The haplogroups may remain the same but at times

the marker values could be different.

Without being tested, one cannot assume your Y-DNA will closely match one of the above individuals unless you are very closely related to the individual actually tested.  This is why we need more individuals to be tested..
