|Friedrich Albrecht Haupt and Auguste Carolina C. von Buseck
b. March 14, 1804 b.
d. Jan. 10, 1888 d. 1865
Friedrich A. Haupt was born in Bad Homburg vor der Hohe, Hessen, Germany. He received his doctorate in Jurisprudence from the University of Heidelberg. He would then serve the next 25 years as Police Chief of Bad Homburg vor der Hohe.
He married the Baroness Auguste Carolina Christina von Buseck in 1834 (or 1838). Her family was from Buseck which was just to the north near Geissen, Hessen.
Friedrich would emigrate to the US in 1857. The exact date is still not known. His wife would arrive on Sept. 22, 1858 with three children. They traveled on the ship "Northern Light". They initially settled in Erie, PA but by 1861 they would move to Buffalo, NY.
A very well educated man, he would spend his time in the states with literary pursuits. One project involved the translation of Bible commentary from German to English. This project, of which he took deep pride, was completed only a day before his death in 1888. He was well respected with a rather large circle of friends.
Much of this information was obtained from the book "History of Germans in Buffalo and Erie County, PA, Part XIV".
