Christian Charles Haupt resided in Apple Creek Township in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri.  He had emigrated as a child with his parents in 1858.  They were from Hardenberg/Sudheim, Hanover.  They arrived on the ship "Ernst Moritz Arndt" on December 1, 1858 at the Port of New Orleans - having sailed from Bremen.  His father
Carl Haupt was born 1812 and died Oct. 1876.

Christian Charles Haupt enlisted in Sept. 1861 with the First Missouri
Engineers (Infantry) and served until discharge in June 1865.  He was captured and held for two months as a POW in South Carolina.

He is buried in the Schmidt Cemetery in Cape Girardeau Co., MO.
