He was paying a poll tax, owned no slaves and had 100 acres of land, lot no. 149 in the 10th District of the county. This large farm was the lot next to Pope Plantation. David H. and his young bride lived on part of the lot adjacent to his parents, who owned the other 100 acres of lot no. 149. When the Talbot County line was changed in 1847 to include the northeast section of Muscogee County, both families were in that part annexed to Talbot County.
