Shield Against Darkness
by Duke Firefox
Time passes slowly in a world of no hope,
a world of no destiny, with none able to cope,
I live in this world, but I show nothing,
I bring forth a shield of joy and happiness,
to protect those I hold dear from the realities of the world I fear.
The shield of white, holding back the black of heart,
a shield of good, against a spear of bad,
of sad, the shield of white meant to hold back the black,
the shield shall break,
the black spill forth, the people see, all that is true,
in the heart of this one, who sees all yet none.
Never before have I felt this much,
as the black spills forth, and the people feel fear,
for the one they hold so dear.
One steps forward, beautiful and true,
and sings to me a loving song,
one heard heart and heart through,
with her notes of bright white,
does a new shield come to be,
to hold for eternity.
Or so it is meant to be,
For the darkness shall rise again.
But for now, with the shield in place,
does hope return, and destiny too,
for those held dear, of he who knows true.
