"I danced from the moment I could stand" - Anna Pavlova
24 YEARS OF 1960s GO - GO DANCING !!!
Original and Authentic 1960's Go-Go Dancing
(including 1960's Fad and Novelty Dances plus Jamaican Ska and Rocksteady)
This web-site is presented to you by Kathy from The Hipster Go-Go Dancers and will demonstrate the original and authentic 1960's style of go-go dancing as seen in the teenage music shows of the era - Shindig!, Hullabaloo, Ready Steady Go! and The Go! Show - to name just a few.  I'll also give you tips on movement, hair-styles and fashion from the decade.

The web-site is concerned with the fun dance craze/ fad dance form of go-go from the early to mid 60's and has nothing to do with the provocative version of free-form go-go which took over in the late 60's and resurrected itself again in the new millenium.

Unfortunately the word go-go has come to be associated these days with very different styles of dancing such as funk, hip-hop, pole-dancing, strip-tease and burlesque.  You won't find these movement forms on this web-site so keep your gear ON!  It's an important part of the early 60s dance look.
Note: You may disagree with the information contained in the History and Go - Go Lesson pages.  The information on the History page has come from over 20 years experience, research and any other source you can think of.  The information in Go - Go Lesson has come from personal dance training undertaken at a dance school that was established in the 1950s, so they knew what they were talking about because they actually taught the dances in the 1960s.  If you disagree with how a dance is performed please remember that there were many versions of any one dance and each one varied from country to country and even town to town.  It all depends on how one interprets the instructions.

Please read the Warning/Disclaimer below as I do not intend to be held responsible for anything you do.  If something looks too hard or strenuous -
