The Stand (1994)
Possibly the greatest King adaption ever. The Stand (obviously) is adapted from King's best-seller The Stand, about the super-flu (Captian Trips) that had been created by the US government and accidentally released on the world, taking the majority of the world's popualtion, leaving survivors behind, for the final (apocalyptic?) battle between good and evil. This four part mini-series aired on TV in 1994, in four two hour long parts. King wrote the screenplay and actually had a cameo in it to, but it was actually more like a part. Brillantly cast;  Gary Sinise as Stu Redman, Ruby Dee as Mother Abigail, Jamey Sheridan as Randall Flagg, Laura San Giacomo as Nadine Cross, Rob Lowe as Nick Andros, and the list goes on and on.

This movie defeintley did what I thought it wouldn't, do the book justice, it is probably the best movie-that-has-done-the-book-justice that I've ever seen. By the way, did you see the few "cameos" by big name stars like Ed Harris and Kathy Bates?
