Hearts in Atlantis movie news.
Sorta news today on the Hearts in Atlantis movie today, with an article by USA Today here it is:

MOVIES With Anthony Hopkins, who needs special effects?

In Stephen King's short story Low Men in Yellow Coats, a brilliant boy named Bobby Garfield discovers that evil resides in his neighborhood -- and that Ted, the mysterious man who moves in upstairs, is from another planet and has secret powers.

But when the story comes to the screen, scripted by William Goldman (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) and directed by Scott Hicks (Shine), the mystery man upstairs will be an ordinary earthling played by the not-so-ordinary Anthony Hopkins.

''We've chosen to keep the story grounded in the real world,'' Hicks says. ''I decided you were ultimately more engaged with the character of Ted if he was a real human being.''

Hicks also stayed away from special effects, though the screenplay originally required that Ted's eyes behave in very curious ways. ''Once I had Tony Hopkins,'' Hicks says, ''I thought, 'Look, I've got one of the greatest special effects in the world.' Hopkins has an extraordinary ability to commune with the camera in a way that few people have.''

Hearts in Atlantis (the name of the Stephen King book from which the story was taken) opens this fall. It co-stars young actor Anton Yelchin as the boy who wonders about Ted.

''He is a phenomenal actor, and tiny. When they first met, Tony just looked at him, and said, 'You are incredible.' There is something in this kid's face and eyes and demeanor that ignites your interest. Anton is so hugely accomplished that he just goes toe-to-toe with Tony.''
