I have drunk hard and long
and seen a long life's story
felt all experience bubble up
from the heavy glass.
I have spoken with all kinds of men
and worn creation's glory
and felt the stars inside my head
whirling in my cup.
And all the tales my drink has given
all are stored in my mind's book
and seek release from prison;
a voice from behind the glass;
a brokered deal with existence.
