I sent out an illustrated announcement,
picturing a life I hoped to live;
hoping that I could picture the world as it was meant to be.
Like a child's party invitation,
line drawings of happiness and fun,
with a space for my name and my address,
inviting one and all to smile at my future.
A form of magic, words and images,
like an Egyptian drawing on the tomb,
this tomb of my heart, my life;
forcing the world into my own pattern,
rescuing my life from where it had fallen.
