I've tried to annotate the links so that they do more than just point to sites you may or may not like but offer you some way to evaluate the content. These are my favourites, obviously, so I like them.
Self-Injury | Mental Illness | Religion, General | Christianity | Poetry | Graphics
Self-Injury: A Struggle. The website of Gabrielle, with information about self-injury, possibly the most extensive collection of SI quotes online and a very active forum.
The Lysamena Project on Self-Injury a site specifically aimed at Christians who self-injure, though also welcoming other people. While I find the information/thoughts here a little sketchy, it is a valuable first step to raising awareness among Christians. The webmaster deserves all our support.
Secret Shame. The self-injury site, with plenty of accurate, well researched information. If you read a book on SI, a newspaper article, anything, they will have used this site as a source.
Healthy Place a community site for those with mental health problems, divided into areas by illness.
CrazyMeds information on every psychiatric medication available, the side effects and uses, in layman's language.
Sacred Texts. If you only visit one site, make it this one. Sacred Texts aims to collect the texts of many, many different religions into one place, as well as information on those religions. If you have a need for folklore, here is a place to find it. If you're interested in other religions, this is excellent. Its hard to express how useful this site can be. Just go there.
Internet Infidels. The site of the internet's atheists, this site contains essays which justify non-belief as well as attacking the arguments for faith. Essential reading, I would say, whether one is a believer or not.
Jewish Encyclopaedia. A useful source for information from a Jewish perspective, particularly useful for legends which never made it into Christian circles. This encyclopaedia was published before the Second World War however, so its information about modern Judaism and its response to the Shoah is non-existent.
The Hermetic Library if you've ever wanted to read the works of Aleister Crowley and other esoteric types, this is a good website.
The Principia Discordia Don't eat hot-dog buns. And check out this...interesting work.
The Catholic Encyclopaedia. Has to be the first visit when researching any topic. While this naturally has a Catholic bias, the authors (writing in 1911) attempted to cover both sides of the issue, and it covers a truly frightening range of topics.
Fred Phelps Expose by Michael Haggarty. Phelps is the man from "GodHatesFags" and others, who protests at funerals, schools and churches. This site is definitely worth a bookmark.
Copyrighted King James Version a useful reference when dealing with people who do not realise the KJV is under copyright in the United Kingdom, and who refuse to believe you when you point out your Bible says it is under copyright.
Bible-Texts.com a large website with articles on the Bible, concordances and the like. Worth a look.
Ship of Fools "the magazine of Christian unrest". A wonderful online resource, with plenty of humour and reflection and, of course, the Mystery Worshipper who might visit your church and report back on what it was like for everyone to see.
Bartleby. This site is a good reference site with dictionaries and encyclopaedias but also contains a great deal of verse and prose, dictionaries of quotations and the like, all of which are very easily searcheable.
Plagiarist Poetry Archive. Don't let the name put you off, this site accepts submissions of poetry (that is, by published, established poets) from internet users and has a good collection of all kinds of authors. Many of whom are actually under copyright and so hard to find at other sites.
Constantine Cavafy's Poems in English, the complete works. You can also read them in Greek here, if you can read Greek. Cavafy is my favourite poet, and I would heartily recommend you visit this site to read him. In fact if you were here now I would point my browser that way and force you to!
Latin Phrases and Quotes useful if you either don't understand something in a book or want to find a useful quote for something you're writing.
Names of the Middle East if you've ever wondered what to call a Middle Eastern character, this site is for you. It has an extensive list of Arab, Persian, Afgan and many other types of names and their meanings.
Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi a website with the poetry of this great Muslim mystic and poet. He is one of those authors who everyone should have read.
Aon-Celtic Art. This has to be the single best Celtic graphics site online. Most Celtic sites are frankly, not very good with poor-quality images, Aon however produce wonderful images which look fantastic on websites and has a large collection of free clipart. Which is why I've used them all over my website!
Web Safe Fonts a useful list of fonts which will actually work when you put them on your website, their equivalents on the Mac, and when you'll have to ask users to download if you want your site to look good.
DaFont here you can download a whole load of fonts in all different styles for your computer.
