Greyhounds I Have Fostered
You will find pictures and stories about the greyhounds I have fostered and read what the new families have to say about life with a retired racer. Here is where you will feel the love that these dogs bring to their new family. Don't think that just because these dogs where only trained to run around a track that they are void of love and affection! Greyhounds make wonderful  loving pets. They try so hard to please you and love to be near you. Some come from the tracks very shy and need extra encouragement to help them adapt to life off the track. Though they may be challenging the outcome is just awesome for you and the dog for there will be such a strong bond between the two of you. Your greyhound will have come to trust you with his life, you are his and he is yours, nobody will ever come between you. What you will have done for this greyhound is phenomenal! You will have saved him or her from a life of doom..thousands of greyhounds are euthanised every year. It makes me wonder if the shy, the old (5 or 6 yrs of age, what they call old), maybe even the dogs of a certain color, from what I understand the black grey's are the hardest to adopt out..do these dogs die first..without even a chance to get in a track kennel to be adopted out. So please...try fostering a greyhound, who knows you may end up adopting him or her..(psst! Its called failed fostering 101) I haven't failed YET..when I came into fostering I promised myself that I would not adopt a dog (Im only on my second foster dog). I love helping them for now. My family is growing..we have college coming up..another driver around the corner..god help me.. and another soon to be teenager, a husband and a house full of critters..um..are these good enough reasons not to adopt...stay strong Brenda!!!!! If you have a great love for animals, (a fenced in yard makes the job easier), please open your heart and home to one of these wonderful retired racers! One at a time we can help them all be winners!
