Question in response to Sri Giriraja-
you post some of the predictions they have made for our times? I have
If you read the following carefully, you will see events predicted thousands of years in advance. These are major predictions of Avatars and how the Hare Krishna movement will spread over the world, etc. Recent predicted events are the appearance of Lord Buddha and Lord Kalki and the Kali-yuga age, and the movement spread by Srila Prabhupada.
There are numerous quotes in Srimad Bhagavatam about the prediction of the age of Kali-yuga, which began 5,000 years ago [and scientist Richard Thompson Phd computed via computer that all the planets were lined up in a straight line when Kali-yuga began 5,000 years ago, its all in his last book] where men/women became shorter in life and stature, smaller in body size, and how everything in general became degraded and atheistic in Kali-yuga. In the prior age, Dvarpa-yuga, men were more of a giant size, and lived longer, more intelligent, more theistic. I remember long ago, hearing or reading some passage in the Bible, talking about men in the past who were giants and lived a thousand years, which correlates to the Vedic statements of how the Dvarpa-yuga men lived 1,000 years and Kali-yuga men are living only 100 years.
The predicted appearance of Lord Buddha, as written in the Srimad Bhagavatam-
From Srimad Bhagavatam 1.3.24, verse and purport by Srila Prabhupada, we find-
Verse- Then, in the beginning of Kali-yuga, the Lord will appear as Lord Buddha, the son of Anjana, in the province of Gaya, just for the purpose of deluding those who are envious of the faithful theist.
Srimad-Bhagavatam was composed just prior to the beginning of the age of Kali (about five thousand years ago), and Lord Buddha appeared about twenty-six hundred years ago. Therefore in the Srimad-Bhagavatam Lord Buddha is foretold. Such is the authority of this clear scripture. There are many such prophecies, and they are being fulfilled one after another. They will indicate the positive standing of Srimad-Bhagavatam, which is without trace of mistake, illusion, cheating and imperfection, which are the four flaws of all conditioned souls. The liberated souls are above these flaws; therefore they can see and foretell things which are to take place on distant future dates.
And from Srila Prabhupada’s Gita class in Montreal, 1968
“Just in the Srimad-Bhagavatam there is a great list of incarnations, and Buddha, Lord Buddha, is accepted as one of the incarnations who would appear. It is in future tense. Kikatesu bhavisyati. Buddho namna anjana-sutah kikatesu bhavisyati. Now bhavisyati means "He will appear in future." Because Srimad-Bhagavatam was compiled by Vyasadeva five thousand years ago, and Lord Buddha appeared about two-thousand-six-hundred years ago. Therefore before the appearance of Lord Buddha the Srimad-Bhagavatam was written. This is called sastra. Because there is accurate date and accurate calculation. Everything is there. Buddho namna anjana-sutah kikatesu bhavisyati. The mother's name also given there, anjana-suta. And kikatesu means Gayapradesh. In India there is a province called Bihar. In that province there is a district Gaya. In that district Lord Buddha appeared. Lord appeared in Bihar province. He was ksatriya, He was Hindu, and He propagated this religion of nonviolence, Buddhism.”
The predicted appearance of Lord Kalki-
This is from Srimad Bhagavatam 1.3.25, purport by Srila Prabhupada-
Here is another foretelling of the advent of Lord Kalki, the incarnation of Godhead. He is to appear at the conjunction of the two yugas, namely at the end of Kali-yuga and the beginning of Satya-yuga. The cycle of the four yugas, namely Satya, Treta, Dvapara and Kali, rotates like the calendar months. The present Kali-yuga lasts 432,000 years, out of which we have passed only 5,000 years after the Battle of Kuruksetra and the end of the regime of King Pariksit. So there are 427,000 years balance yet to be finished. Therefore at the end of this period, the incarnation of Kalki will take place, as foretold in the Srimad-Bhagavatam. The name of His father, Visnu Yasa, a learned brahmana, and the village Sambhala are also mentioned. As above mentioned, all these foretellings will prove to be factual in chronological order. That is the authority of Srimad-Bhagavatam.
From Srimad Bhagavatam 4.22.36p-
At the end of this Kali-yuga, the Lord will appear as the incarnation of Kalki, and His only business will be to kill all human beings on the surface of the globe. After that killing, another golden age will begin. We should therefore know that our material activities are just like childish play. Children may play on the beach, and the father will sit and watch this childish play, the construction of buildings with sand, the construction of walls and so many things, but finally the father will ask the children to come home. Then everything is destroyed. Persons who are too much addicted to the childish activities of economic development and sense gratification are sometimes especially favored by the Lord when He destroys their construction of these things.
Lord Kalki is also mentioned in the Bible, where it talks about the “rider on white horse with a sword” which is a similar description of Lord Kalki. The Vedic puranas also mention Lord Jesus Christ [Isa] and predicts the beginnings of the Muslim and Christian faiths, talks about Noah, etc.
Next is Lord Caitanya’s prediction, 500 years ago, that His names and the Hare Krsna maha-mantra would be broadcast in every town and village in the world, and how He will do this through His devotee, and we see that our great acarya and Jagat Guru, or spiritual master of the whole world, Srila Prabhupada has done this-
There are many quotes on this, here is just one from Srimad Bhagavatam 4.22.42p-
When Lord Visnu appeared in the great arena of sacrifice at the time when King Prthu was performing a great sacrifice (asvamedha), He predicted that the Kumaras would very soon come and advise the King. Therefore Prthu Maharaja remembered the causeless mercy of the Lord and thus welcomed the arrival of the Kumaras, who were fulfilling the Lord's prediction. In other words, when the Lord makes a prediction, He fulfills that prediction through some of His devotees. Similarly, Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu predicted that both His glorious names and the Hare Krsna maha-mantra would be broadcast in all the towns and villages of the world. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura and Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Prabhupada desired to fulfill this great prediction, and we are following in their footsteps.
Here is a passage which reveals that this Hare Krishna movement was predicted to begin with Lord Caitanya 500 years ago, and spread all over the world-
In Caitanya-caritamrta, Adi 1.102
Lord Caitanya appeared there, and Lord Nityananda came there and joined Him from the district of Birbhum. They appeared on the horizon of Gaudadesa to spread the science of Krsna consciousness, and it is predicted that as the sun and moon gradually move west, the movement They began five hundred years ago will come to the Western civilizations by Their mercy.
Here some mathematical details on the appearance of Lord Krishna-
Caitanya-caritamrta Adi 3.11-
From the beginning of Brahma's day of 4,320,000,000 years, six Manus appear and disappear before Lord Krsna appears. Thus 1,975,320,000 years of the day of Brahma elapse before the appearance of Lord Krsna. This is an astronomical calculation according to solar years.
Here is statement of astrology, through which, one knows past, present and future-
Caitanya-caritamrta Adi 17.104
Through astrology one can know past, present and future. Modern Western astrologers have no knowledge of the past or future, nor can they perfectly say anything about the present. Herein we find, however, that after hearing Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's order, the astrologer immediately began his calculations. This was not a facade; he actually knew how to ascertain one's past life through astrology. A still-existing treatise called the Bhrgu-samhita describes a system by which anyone can immediately get information about what he was in the past and what he is going to be in the future.
Big Bang - Big Scam
intelligent beings. Absurdity mixed with intelligent humans is like the
introduction of oil into water, they don’t mix. We are rational beings,
and so upon a platform of mutual respect, hopefully, here is my logical
deride religion, and various religions fight with other religions, and
most say that their path is the only way. Everyone has a way of faulting
other philosophies, but they fail to see the glaring faults in their own
philosophy, this is human nature. We must take a hard look at all possible
philosophic theories, and see if they accommodate the 3 proven facts of
three basic facts of the phenomenal world. These facts can be presented
and agreed upon, with the civilized discussion of rational persons. These
facts are necessary for any true philosophical paradigm to be ultimately
rational to the human brain.
Fact #1 -
Behind everything we see in this phenomenal world, in the sky, on the
land, in all living beings, the planets and universe, behind it all - is
an “intelligent design.” The planets orbit with extreme exactitude,
the sun rises and sets precisely on time everyday. The complexity of a
butterfly, a human eye, a peacock feather, everything that we see, has
such wonderful and multifarious design. The most intricate man-made
machine is crudely elementary to the cells in our body, our organs, our
brain. There is a great supernatural engineer, a master of intelligence,
behind all the great complexity and harmony in this world. Only a mad man
would deny the “intelligent design” behind everything in this world.
Lets examine some examples-
one. Cellular biologists have admitted the necessity of accommodating
“intelligent design” in the understanding of one single cell in our
body, which is more complex than the city of New York. Mathematicians have
reported long ago in some newspaper, that it’s mathematically impossible
for random combinations and mutations of atoms and molecules to
accidentally create the phenomenon of this world, such as organisms, the
sophistication of the solar system, etc.
Example two. How is it that the “big bang” explosion at the
beginning of time was the ONLY explosion in history to have resulted in
order and harmony of the most amazing precision? Did the laws of nature
change from that point onwards to make all other explosions to result in
chaos and scattered debris? Are we to understand that in the original
explosion, the debris was well organized, in perfect orbits, in uniform
shapes, such as spheres, and in all other subsequent observations the
debris was scattered in chaos? Oh thoughtful men, let us consider - how
the laws of nature was uniform for the first explosion and chaotic for all
Why do so
many people refer to the “Big Bang” theory as an accepted fact? In
conversation, people speak as if this idea is a proven fact. It is not a
scientific fact, but only a theory, nay- a wild speculation. Allow me to
demonstrate. The scientific method means 4 steps- Hypothesis, observation,
then experimentation, and conclusion.
No one has
observed the “big bang” of the so-called beginning of the universe. In
our entire history of human records, no one has ever seen an explosion of
any kind, and then observed some complex result from such explosion.
Explosion means chaos and scattered debris, and this is without exception.
We never see a beautiful result from a chaotic explosion, no creation of
any kind of order from disorder. So why is this ascribed to the creation
of our universe? The result is never better or more complex than the
cause. You cannot breed two Shetland ponies and get a Clydesdale champion
horse. This big-bang explosion can only be like any other explosion –
the result is chaos and disorder, and any effect cannot be greater than
the cause. This is simple logic.
wanted a house, and some construction manager [called big-bang housing]
told you that he could build you a house with an empty lot, some lumber
and paint, and some dynamite. All he has to do is pile the lumber and
paint and wires in the spot you wanted, and place on top of the pile, a
drawing of the design you want, and then he will dynamite your house into
existence! Would you believe him? Then why do you believe this with
something much more complex, like the universe?
think its sophisticated to accept this kind of illogical deductions, like
saying it all came from a “big bang” just like some people think its
sophisticated to pay $5 for a cup of coffee at starbucks, they think this
kind of thing is prestigious. But the philosophical person who thinks for
himself, he will see through all the so-called scientific jargon and
hype and realize these people are just pulling our legs - really
big time leg pullers.
three- Why do people think that evolution by chance mutation is an
accepted fact? It’s only a speculative theory. Same situation,
scientific method means 4 steps- Hypothesis, observation, then
experimentation, and conclusion. Nobody
has ever observed the chance mutation of one species evolving into a
higher and more complex species.
science understands the molecular level of living beings, the clearer it
becomes that everything is intelligently designed. Darwin’s theory was
in 1859, before science knew of the atomic structure. He thought the
smallest unit of a living creature was the cell, which he thought was
highly adaptable. He thought the origin of living matter was like an
accident of chemistry. But now science knows that cells are extremely
complex and its impossible to believe they are accidental in nature. The
two axioms of Darwinian theory – the continuity of nature and adaptable
design – has never been validated by a single empirical discovery in 150
“by chance” but this only means that they are saying, “I don’t
know.” “Chance” means, “I don’t have the slightest idea in hell
how this happens, but if I speak in scientific jargon which nobody
understands, then people won’t think it through and see that I’m
bluffing.” So, if there’s no observation of “chance mutation” then
how is this scientific? They cannot give any kind of model demonstration
of how a complex organ, like a human eye, can mutate “by chance” from
a “no eye situation” like a blank face, into the marvelous organ by
which we can see. Atoms and dna molecules don’t bump each other by
accident into wonderful creations, this is absurd. No evidence or model
demonstration can be produced. No observation means no scientific fact,
only speculation and bad reasoning. There’s plenty of websites to
confirm this conclusion.

Vaisnavas benefit from Old Age
Please accept my obeisances, all glories to Srila Prabhupada.
I was particularly pleased with your recent post if of #2317, wherein you revealed some nice mature Vaisnava realizations, the kind that come with progressive age. You said to Dinadayadri-
“You were saying how even the glitches of this world are an
impetus, and I know you were saying this from realization. I also am seeing how with aging--apart from and along with the many experiences the years have given--comes also a wonderful impetus. At least is so when one is are armed with knowledge through which to see the reality behind the body's gradual deterioration, even in little signs like an increasing need for reading glasses.
This really hit home with me, and the thoughts and feelings I’ve been experiencing myself as of late. Where the normal man or woman begin to feel hopelessness and dread and ghastliness as each cycle of the seasons wears down their aging body more and more, this same experience of passing of time is received with more and more clarity of realization by the Vaisnava who is dedicated to hearing again and again the blessed messages of our master, Srila Prabhupada. As each day and year passes, the more we acutely celebrate our unbelievable great fortune of meeting his divine grace. Sometimes, at rare moments, I find myself laughing with delight to myself over and over as I savor my extreme fortune to have been connected to Srila Prabhupada and now, as if it could not get better, I can now hear the vast volumes of his words to my heart’s desire. As Srila Prabhupada said on one tape, the association of a common man only wastes one’s time with meaningless information, and the real association is he who makes that dramatic essential difference in our life, he who adds that transcendental number uno of Krishna to our long string of millions and zillions of zeros, he who gives the eternal benefit of transcendental knowledge of Krishna consciousness. Who could imagine the fortune of us, who were allowed to contact the pure devotee of the Lord?
Each passing day gives firmer conviction of the falsity and futility of this material sense gratification in this temporal world, the ultimate defeat of all this passionate drive of everyone trying to find lasting happiness in a temporary world. All men begin with nothing and have nothing in the end, and foolishly spend all their precious time between these zeros, simply working hard for that which will fade in an instant. This reminds me of a favorite verse from Srimad-Bhagavatam-
A dream becomes automatically known to a person as false and immaterial, and similarly one eventually realizes that material happiness in this life or the next, on this planet or a higher planet, is insignificant. When one realizes this, the Vedas, although an excellent source, are insufficient to bring about direct knowledge of the truth. [Srimad-Bhagavatam 5.11.3]
Srila Prabhupada says in his purport-
“One may dream that he has become a king with a good family, wife and children, but immediately at the end of that dream he comes to the conclusion that it is false. Similarly, all kinds of material happiness are undesirable for a person who wants spiritual salvation. If a person does not come to the conclusion that he has nothing to do with any kind of material happiness, he cannot come to the platform of understanding the Absolute Truth, or tattva jnana.”
Jayaradhe says something very much near to this verse, of acceptance of the “unreality”-
“I hope this doesn't sound rambling; I am trying to say it's been really hitting home, increasingly, recently, for me, and I am kicking and tantrumming less as a result (at least at the moment), and finding more and more peace in acceptance of the "unreality" of this
apparent world. I also have been noticing that along with the process of surrendering comes more intensely the challenge (merciful agent Mayadevi) of feeling acute despair when I forget the reality and try again to make arrangements for getting really comfortable with this material realm. I feel fortunate that Krsna never lets me actually quite achieve it, not letting me get much sense of security here.”
Here is a passage from the Puranjana section of the 4th canto-
Thus jara, the effect of old age, does not harass a devotee. This is because a devotee follows the instructions and the ... Because a devotee rigidly follows the instructions of Narada Muni, he has no fear of old age, disease or death. Apparently a devotee may grow old, but he is not subjected to the symptoms of defeat experienced by a common man in old age. Consequently, old age does not make a devotee fearful of death, as a common man is fearful of death. When jara, or old age, takes shelter of a devotee, Kalakanya diminishes the devotee's fear. A devotee knows that ... Godhead; therefore he has no fear of death. Thus instead of depressing a devotee, advanced age helps him become fearless and thus happy. [Srimad-Bhagavatam 4.27.24P]
Yes, for the Vaisnava, old age is welcomed as a blessing. In old age we become more and more wiser, and we can help others with our realizations. All the years of hearing and chanting come into fructation, and it spills out in the form of Krishna katha. This is guru. We are all gurus to each other here on this forum. We are all blessed to associate with those who give the number uno of Krishna consciousness to our long string of zeros.
