The family history is that Mary Conner was born about 1842 in Port Jervis, Orange County, New York, and moved to Sullivan County about 1857. The census information bear this out. Port Jervis was a hamlet in the township of Deerpark and it is here that the family of Francis Conner is found in 1850. The Whig Press, a newpaper published in Middletown, Orange County, at this time, lists the death of Margaret Conner on 12 April 1857, aged 39 years. In 1860, family members appear in several households in Forestburgh, Sullivan County. Francis with sons, Thomas and Winfield in the household of Joseph Ruddick. Sarah Conner lived with John Ruddick. Mary Conner was by then married to Oliver C. Norris and lived nearby. Later, in 1865, David M. Conner, lived with sister Mary and her family. Francis Conner died in Forestburgh on August 5, 1864, aged 67 years.

Winfield Conner, born about 1852 NY (These last two may be the same individual)
