GEORGE STANTON FROM JAMAICA TO NEW YORK CITY, 1698

William P. Stanton has a better site on this family

This information was collected mainly from an article in Olde Ulster, Vol. 1-4. The information was contributed to the publication by William Austin Macy, M.D. Further information was taken from a genealogy of the Stanton family of New York, a draft by William Parsons Stanton, written 1980 and sent to me after a query during that decade. Also from my genealogy notes that substantiate what William P. Stanton had compiled.

George Stanton was supposedly a planter on the Island of Jamaica, and was an Englishman. In 1698 he removed to New York City and died in 1708. His wife was Hester. He had children: George, Henry, William, Hester (who married a Parcher), and possibly another daughter. It is not known for sure if George or William, son of George and Hester had children. The descendants of Henry Stanton are chronicaled in the article by William A. Macy.

Henry Stanton, son of George and Hester, was reportedly born 17 May 1699 and married Mary Blanck. (I have also seen the wife named as Mary Warner and married in 1732 at the Dutch Reformed Church in NYC, and I believe this was her name). Their children were
