Triple Goddess

Base: Leah's Dollz Base: Base:

The above pictures are my view of what the Maiden, Mother and Crone looks like. I used a
Caucasian base and reddish brown hair only because I am Caucasian with reddish brown hair.
Remember, this is MY view of the Triple Goddess, not THE view of the Triple Goddess.
As far as I'm concerned, she can be black, brown, white, pink, yellow or neon green!
The dollz are © 2003 Kathleen Garber with the exception of the bases.

MAIDEN: The Maiden is the period from child to young woman. It encompasses
the period of a a girl's childhood and adolescence. The symbol of the maiden,
is the crescent moon, waxing, since she is growing too. Young and full of energy, the
Maiden is strong, bold and intelligent. She is learning how the world works
and getting ready to become a mother, both physically with the start of menstruation
and emotionally. The Maiden is often referred to as a virgin but it does not mean
that if you've had sex you are no longer a Maiden. In this case, they are using the old
meaning of virgin which is not married. Words/symbols often associated with the Maiden:
virgin, youth, pretty, white dress, flowers, carefree, innocence, lady.... Colors include
white, soft pink or light yellow.

MOTHER: The Mother is the period when the woman is at her sexual peak. There
are no set start and end times. Generally, after marriage to the end of the menstrual cycle
is considered the span of the Mother phase. The symbol of the Mother, is the full moon
which symbolizes the womb. All women go through the Mother phase, regardless of
whether or not the woman chooses to bear a child. The Mother is sometimes seen
as a full figured woman with large breasts and abdomen. Words/symbols often associated
with the Mother: Nurturing, caring, fertile, loving, large, sexual.... Colors include
green, copper, red, light purple or royal blue.

CRONE: The dictionary doesn't do justice to the Crone. Unlike their descriptions,
the woman in the Crone phase is not an ugly hag. She is a wise older woman,
whose menstrual cycle has ceased. The symbol of the crone is the waning moon,
as the crone is reaching the end of her current incarnation. There is no specific age at which a
woman is a crone. The generally accepted time frame is after menopause. The Crone is
not afraid of death, for she knows she will return as the young Maiden and the cycle
will continue. Words/symbols often associated with the Crone: elder, wise, power,
dark, night, death.... Colors include black, grey, purple, brown or midnight blue.
