The Special goes to Curry Rivel

The Special at Blue Diamond with my Dad in the foreground and Ian "musing".

After days of preparation, the 9 Special was driven down to Blue Diamond Services on Monday 5th for a new 5:1 crown-wheel and pinion. The back axle oil seals and rear brake shoes will also be replaced. Hopefully this will result in a more exciting ride (although the lack of effective rear brakes could be considered pretty exciting in the first place!).

The journey itself started at 8:45 in the morning with a 3/4 hour "thaw-out" break after 2 hours. The total journey time was 5 hours and total distance was 156 miles.
