| Reflections My dear friend who moved away recently left me the following papers. These documents form a chronicle of mankind’s search for life beyond earth, a subject my friend Leigh always had an interest in because she believes that the search itself was as important as its results. Some of the pieces use the AD (Anno Domini) date system, others are in the PD (Post-Discovery) time period, and the pieces are in a variety of formats. It would be amazing to have read this in the Twentieth Century AD, because to the people then would see this as a projection of their future, the yet-to-come. I wish my friend was still within reach, but I know how important it was for her to join the crew, testing the first of the galactic-range ships, going to explore the distant stars. NOTE: For reference, I have included italicized sections to explain the background that accompanies these pieces of writing. This should help to draw them together in a cohesive group and make them easier to understand. |
| Here begins the story. I hope you enjoy it. --Redwing |
