Hogsmeade High is a forum-based cyber school of witchcraft set in the Harry Potter universe. It offers online role-play in a setting based upon the novels by JK Rowling as well as classes in magickal subjects, such as Defence Against the Dark Arts, Charms and Spells, Potions or Care of Magical Creatures. You receive lessons in your chosen subject(s)  and collect points for your house. You may get as involved as you like, but we only require our students to join one class per term.

Role-playing

Hogsmeade High is an academy for prospective aurors. They usually transfer there after graduating from Hogwarts.
Role-playing at HH takes place in the Great Hall. You create your own magical self, but you may run into Fred and George in the corridors, get detention with Professor Snape, or fall in love with Luna Lovegood - the sky is the limit.

More than role-playing

HH is more than a conventional role-playing game -- you will have plenty of opportunity to role-play in the Great Hall, but you will also learn something if you wish to. Our classes are not "made up" --- the creatures you meet in Care of Magical Creatures are taken from mythologies of different peoples, the Potions you'll learn to make will have a real effect because of the qualities of the herbs and oils used. Our dedicated teachers devote a great deal of time and work to the research of their lessons. 

Whereas the setting is playful, the academic component can be taken as lightly or as seriously as you like. You can, but don't have to learn about real witchcraft or divination. You don't have to be a witch or believe in magick outside the realm of fiction, but if you do, you will find opportunities to broaden your magickal horizons. There are plenty of theoretical classes (Voyages with Vampires, Care of Magical Creatures etc.)  for our avid role-players that do not transcend the limits of role-playing. Over the years, Hogsmeade High has had students from many different paths - Wiccan, Christian, Muslim, atheist, to name but a few.

There are no school fees.

Age Restriction

There are plenty of groups and sites out there for young Harry Potter fans. Our group addresses adults. You ought to be over 17 years of age to join. We do not have explicitly "adult" material, but if you are under 17, you may be more comfortable around people who are your age.
