John Norris has published on his web site a book written by Joseph Whitaker.
Joseph was born in 1850 at Ramsdale Farm, near Arnold, Notts., 
and later owned Rainworth Lodge in Blidworth.
He was a renowned ornithologist and wrote many books on the English Countryside.
He was also the grandfather of Margaret (Toddy) Whitaker Chaney.

Alan Whitaker has traced his Whitaker ancestors from Leicestershire.
It starts with Richard Whitaker 1771 - 1844 from Diseworth, Leic.
Other places mentioned include Castle Donnington and Darley Abbey
