Borough Apprentice Records 1724 - 1882
These Registers record
apprenticeships served only to Burgesses of Nottingham in the Borough itself.
They were kept because the serving of a Burgess was one of the means of becoming
a Burgess and they finish is 1882 when the Nottingham Corporation Act put an end
to this method of qualification.
Lenton, Radford, Basford, Bulwell &
Sneinton became part of Nottingham in 1877 and so apprenticeships served to
Burgesses in these areas will figure in the registers only from this
date.
Bilborough, Wollaton, Clifton & Wilford were incorporated into
Nottingham in the 20th Century and so apprenticeships served in these parishes
will not appear in the Registers at all.
