The story starts with each of the girls sitting in different areas of the castle. Hikaru's in her room, thinking that maybe nothing has changed. Maybe the pillar's still a sacrifice. Fuu's with Ferio, talking about this and that. Umi's out in the garden, crying her eyes out about not having anyone to love.

Then Umi starts hearing voices, and starts seeing things blue. She runs into the castle and bumps into Ascot. Poor guy, she threatens him with her sword. Anyway, she goes to her room. Her image in the mirror is also blue and Umi breaks the mirror. Hikaru comes over to see what's up and finds Umi in the corner, the mirror shattared. Naturally she asks what's wrong, and Umi acts weird, saying she has no clue. Umi then hears the voices again and runs out of the room. Hikaru runs after her and Umi bumps into Fuu. Fuu asks what's wrong and the voices tell Umi to kill her! Umi almost went along with it, when she turned to go. She bumped into Hikaru. "Ouch, Hikaur, watch where you're going!" Having been yelled at by her best friend, Hikaur runs away. Fuu gets the urge to run and she listens to it. Umi's left alone.

Hikaur ends up next to Guru Clef's room and seeks advice. She tells him she fears she's a sacrifice and he calms her down. Then he gives her an advice about what to do with Umi. She happily runs and announces- "Umi-Chan! We're going on a trip!"

Turns out the trip is to the Temple of Water, to see if maybe Celes could help. When they reached it, a water sprite faced them and demanded to know by what right they seek entrance to the Temple. Umi confronted her and turns out the wprite was a pristess at the Temple and Umi was her princess of water. In Celes's chamber, Celes was badly injured after being attacked. Three figures confront the Knights and have the upper hand. Miy, the sprite, teleports them all away, leaving the three figures at the temple. The three figures, Blaze, Kurai and Reimi have sworn to avange Debonair's death. They teleported away.

The group reached a place that looks like Eterna. Miy's in a trance and she says something about a flower than can heal Celes, but when she waks up she doesn't remember a thing. Umi gets pissed off and leaves on her own. When she's in the forest, Kurai confronts her and switches identities with her bu taking Umi's sword. They look alike, so all that changes is the colors- Kurai was originally deep purple. Kurai makes it back to 'camp' and gets greeted by Hikaru. Miy senses something's wrong with 'Umi' but can't place it.

Meanwhile, Blaze and Reimi caught up with the real Umi, not aware of the switch. She decides to play along until she could find out what to do. They walk for a while and then hear Celes's cry of pain. They reach the cave and then Umi can't control herself and she says 'Time to finish the job.' Her two 'friends' are more than happy to do so, but Umi's confused at what she just said.
