Brewing Methods for Goldrush & Brewiser Home Brew
Kits
Quick Boil
This method requires
a short boiling time using the additional malt extract called for in
the recipe. Whatever additional malt is being used should be brought to the
boil in about
the same equivalent of water. Once boiling steadily, half the hop pellets
should be tossed in and boiled for 5 minutes, then add the
remaining hop pellets, stir, and remove from heat and cover. mix up your
brew as usual and add the malt/hop mixture (strained or unstrained) as
part of the hot water in the original mix.
Dry Hopping
Dry hopping is the
practice of adding fresh hops, cones or pellets directly to the fermenter.
If using large quantities it will be necessary to put the hops in a
muslin or nylon bag.
The hops are the put into the brew immediately prior to the yeast. Dry
hopping has no effect
on the bitterness of
the beer, it provides flavour and particularly aroma to the beer.
Standard
Put the hop pellets
into a sterilized vessel (e.g. coffee cup) and fill with boiling water.
Let it steep/infuse for about 10 minutes, while you prepare your brew. When
your brew
is at the stage where you would normally add the yeast, first tip the entire
contents of your coffee cup (hop mixture) into your fermenter, give it a
stir with a sterilized spoon then
add the yeast and ferment out in the usual way.
