In this collection of 53 poems, Shannon Stafford expresses strong emotions through the energy of youth and the extreme passions of the heart. Shannon weaves moving verse that causes one to ponder their own existence and cherish those around them. The book opens with "Devastation" that descrives the damage of a tornado to a home and family, but alludes to other evernts that lead to the destruction of a family. "Angels" addresses the strength of friendship at times of despair. Among the poems in the collection "The Gift Of Life", "I Am The Heart", "Separate Ways", "50th Anniversary", "Don't Weep For Me", "Feels Like Home", "My Love Won't Let You Fall", "Playing With A Losing Hand", and "Fresh Start". Shannon has just scratched the surface of her potential as she continues to put life's journey in verse and prose.

When I read "Inspiration Through The Years", I read it as a complete stranger to the author. Shannon shows us pieces of herself through her poetry and songs. We learn about her happy and her sad times. we see the importance of her family through her writing. We see how life has been tough to the author at times, but we see her strength. I found myself relating to the author and her experiences. Her writing is fantastic. After you read this book, you will find yourself no longer a stranger to the author. You will become her friend and you will hope for her happy ending.

The poetry book "Inspiration Through The Years" bring together what love is like, be it love of family, friends or a person of the opposite sex. It tells of the heart break that goes with rejection and the joy of having your love returned. It is well written and sometimes makes you want to cry, at other times make you smile and say I have been there. Most of all, like all good poetry it moves the emotion. As a poet and author myself, I sincerely recommend it.

Ms. Stafford has written her life in prose. There is joy in many of her poems, but much sadness is found, also. there are touching tributes to each parent and grandparents are not left out. I found her poetry full of feeling and easy to understand. Love found and lost seems to be the overall theme, with tributes to children and others. Any woman who has been through a divorce will fee the poems as they read. I would recommend this book to all poetry lovers.

I'm old enough to remember when poems rhymed, and I like to come across poetry like that from time to time. Some of the poetry I read today is nothing more than a paragraph in very short lines. But Shannon Stafford's poetry is filled with feelings clipped from the heart and sorted into verses of easy, yet moving lines. Colorful and descriptive poems to take you from tears to joy. At times, as I read this book, I felt myself thinking, "yes, that's how it happened to me, too, so long ago."

Love, betrayal, loss, unrequited love, marriage, the joy of having a child, the pain of losing a lover, the stress of being a single parent...it's all here in Shannon's book. One these pages you'll find powerful emotions expressed in easy couplets you'll want to savor again and again.

It's amazing to me that someone so young as Shannon Stafford has the ability to express powerful emotions in such clear and easy verses. But then maybe it is a testament to someone who has weathered more storms than she should have been exposed to. I am reminded of what Nietzsche said; "Whatever does not kill me only makes me stronger." Perhaps that's what we're seeing here, on the pages of Shannon's book.

I highly recommend it to everyone, poetry lover or not.

Inspiration Through The Years is an inspiring collection of poetry filled with strong words and heart touching passages. Author Shannon Denise Stafford is an excellent poet with a rare talent for communicating her soulful feelings by weaving them into a delightful parade of memorable words.

As I read the many poems in this treasured book, I stood in awe at the reality this poet created in my mind. I could feel the pain of a small child watching the abuse of one parent by another in "Eyes Of Violence." I saw a vision of the many torn and disillusioned famililies that recently weatherd the attach of hurricanes in Florida as I read the touching words in "Devastation". I was drenced by strong emotions as I turned each compelling page. From a confession of true love to a warning from a jilted lover and strong words for a tortured addict, I found it all in the many breathtaking verses of "My Love Won't Let You Fall", "Playing With A Loosing Hand" and "Strength". Shannon has touched every area of living and poured out her gentle heart in the flowing words she uses to describe the turmoil and happines of everyday life.

The gift of poetry comes to but a few and I certainly include Shannon Stafford in that rare group. I found the reading of her many delightful poems to be both an eye opening and heart touching experience. I recommend that anyone who searches for the gentle escape that only fine poetry can provide read and reread this unique book.
