The chicken is the most common homestead animal for several very good reasons.  They are inexpensive to feed, they produce eggs, they are entertaining, AND they taste good! There are a number of ways to get started with chickens, and just as many ways to keep them, but for the purposes of this page, I'll describe the techniques I've used and describe their outcome.
