Liz hires F & A to sell her firm to the Vortex Communications. Her asking price is $2.5 million. Her company is in debt and she has liens on her house. The 2 million would cover the debts, leaving $500, 000 for Jeremy. Liz has melanoma, a skin cancer, and it has spread to her lymph nodes. F & A brokers a deal in which Vortex and Liz's company merges, paying Liz for her client list and allowing her to keep 50% of the profits her clients make for the next 20 years.
Misc.:
  • When she was a teenager, Burton and Liz were seen wrestling poolside by her mother. Her mother assumed the worst and informed Anne. According to Burton, the wrestling was innocent "horsing around". According to Anne, it was more than innocent. This information comes out when Liz confesses to Burton that she wasn't the one who told Anne.
  • Liz is privy to the fact that Nick is unaware of Anne's marital infidelities and pill abuse and that Burton tried to get custody of Nick.

Jeremy Hetherington

Family Background: Parents are divorced. His mother is Liz.
Education: Boarding school: Townsend Academy in Cumberland County, but was expelled for gambling activites. Has since enrolled in local public school were his first day was memorialized by walking through two metal detectors, having bubblegum thrown into his locker and learning stuff he had learned two years ago.
Misc.:
  • Was on the soccer team at the Townsend Academy.
  • Blurted out that Anne was a "pill freak" during dinner with Burton, Nick and Liz.
  • Owed a bookie $6000. Jeremy was the bookie's representative at Townsend. One kid lost a $5000 bet on a football game and rather than paying Jeremy, he told the Dean who in turn expelled Jeremy. The bookie, however, began to lean on Jeremy for the money, increasing the amount to $6000, and then to potential $7000 if he didn't pay.
  • After he confessed to his mother about his bookie problems, she tells him about her cancer. Upset (and being a total spoiled brat, imho--Milz) Jeremy rushes out of the house with Liz's car keys and drives off. Nick find him unharmed and the car crashed into a tree (awwww, the poor tree--Milz.)
