Fallin & Associates

Firm History: founded by Burton Fallin in 1971[Columbia-Tristar production website] . Employs at least a total of 20 partners, associates, legal aides ["Loyalities"]. The number of partners is about 7 including Burton ["Paternity"]; all of whom are white men ["Lawyers, Guns and Money"]. As the season progresses, more minority partners and associates are revealed (see below). After Burton gets the Federal judgeship, he leaves making Senator Caldwell the senior managing partner. The Firm drops “Fallin and Associates” for the new name “Caldwell and Associates” [“The Beginning”].

Attorneys:

  • Burton Fallin, founder and senior partner
  • Nick Fallin, associate, quit in "Loyalities", returned to F & A in "Privilege". Quit to form Fallin & Straka
  • Jake Straka, associate. Quit to form Fallin and Straka
  • Amanda Bowles, first year associate, quit in "Privilege"(More on Amanda)
  • Larry Hines : top earner for the last five years, left F & A to work for Kirk and McGee, tried to recruit Jake and sucessfully recruited Nick for Kirk and McGee. He also made Amanda believe Kirk & McGee was interested in her ["Loyalities"]
  • Sylvia Ducet, associate: African-American female, specializing in real estate law. She graduated 3rd in her class at Cornell. After Amanda left, Sylvia became the only female associate in the firm. She is one of two African-American associates at F & A. The other is Pete Marsden, described by Sylvia as a "goof". Burton offers to make her a non-equity partner for the first year, meaning she would not share in the Firm's net profit as the other partners do. The offer was a public relations scheme to make Burton more "sellable" as a politically appointed Federal Judge ["Lawyers, Guns and Money"]
  • Gordon: senior partner, mentioned in "Shelter"
  • Murray Lanceberg: senior partner mentioned in "Shelter"
  • Nathan Caldwell: former State Senator. In spite of his 30 years of public service, Senator Caldwell lost his re-election bid. Subsequently he made a "deal" with Burton and was hired as a senior partner.["Chinese Wall"]
  • Mitchell Lichtman: Graduated from Yale Law in 1993. Worked for the law firm of Sager & Treymaine(sp?) briefly before entering the world of state politics in 1996. Worked for Senator Caldwell in the State Assembly. Lippman prefers the political arena to the practice of law. He was hired along with Senator Caldwell and entered F & A as an associate. After committing a felony by revealing political information and compromising Caldwell, Burton fires him.["Chinese Wall"] As soon as Caldwell takes over, Lichtman is re-hired and made a senior partner, much to Nick’s dismay [“The Beginning”]
  • Arnold Parker: white male, associate, presumably informs Caldwell of Nick's plans to start another law firm ["The Beginning"]
  • Lisa Jacobi: white female, associate, one of the three associates offered to form new firm with Nick and Jake ["The Beginning"]. Returns to work for Caldwell [“Testimony”]
  • Henry Stone: African-American male, associate , one of the three associates offered to form a new firm with Nick and Jake. ["The Beginning"] Returns to work for Caldwell [“Testimony”]
