Johnson's Running Day 2007

JOHNSON BROS. VR TOUR, 2007

With apologies for the delay, but I can now confirm the arrangements for this year's Johnsons Running Day on the 8th September. The day starts from Mansfield Woodhouse Railway Station, which is one stop North of Mansfield main station at 10.15. There is car parking there. After this, we pick up at 10.45 at Worksop Railway Station. The day will feature the M reg ex M&D Series 2 Bristol VR in the morning, a series 1 VR at lunchtime and a Southern Vectis Series 3 in the afternoon. It is expected to finish around 5pm. It may be possible to visit the Wilfreda Beehive depot during the day but this has not been confirmed. The cost of the day is £10. Payment should be sent to Richard Newman, please contact me at jonathan.gulliver@ntlworld.com for details of where to send it and who payable to. Payment in advance is not necessarily required but we'd like to know how many are coming. Any more information you need, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will try to find out. I believe that there may be the rally in Sheffied on the Sunday. Johnsons is now one of the few remaining fleets with a large Bristol VR content. There are several series 2 VRs, even two series 1 VRs and a good number of series 3. Although Johnsons have acquired a number of Olympians, there have not been significant withdrawls of VRs for some time now.

Here are some photographs from the last running day all taken by Neil Clifton:
Here is a series 2 which orignally served with Crosville. When did you last see a series 2 in service, especially looking this tidy?.
The day featured a visit to the Wilfreda Beehive depot. This fleet has recently purchased some VRs from Johnsons including this one, originally with City of Oxford. I remember seeing this batch when only a few years old.

The Moxon depot was visited. Their fleet includes a number of VRs, one of which is illustrated here.

The new order can be seen here with an Olympian in the company of one of the Lincolnshire VRs. The change over seems to be proceeding fast.
