Our dossier is finally in China.
There was an issue with the Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles.  Appearantly, our dossier was approved the week of Christmas but there was an increase in fees.  They tried to call our Agency, but they were closed for Christmas.  So, they just never called back.  Our agency gave them the standard two weeks and then began to call.  Well several attempts and a call from the Senator later, our dossier was on it's way to China.  Our agency's people in China walked it into the CCAA on February 10th.  Next post will be our official Log in date.

A copy of our dossier has been sent to China for translation and the original has been sent to the Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles for another authentication process.  Next stop, All God's Children International (our agency) and then the Chinese Center for Adoption Affairs.  We have been told that once it is logged in with the CCAA we can most likely expect a referral in about 8 months.  If this is the case, we should get one in August/September.  Until then, we wait, and shop.

Today we went to Sacramento to have our dossier authenticated.  Our dossier is complete and will be sent to our agency, All God's Children International, this week.

We were fingerprinted by homeland security and are waiting for our I-171H Approval, which will complete our dossier.

Our homestudy is complete and has been sent to BCIS.  We are waiting for a fingerprint appointment from Homeland Security.

We completed our homestudy visit and it was painless.  We have a few phone interviews and then we just wait for the write up.

We have a homestudy appointment.
Our first homestudy appointment, where a social worker comes to our house, is Saturday September 10th @ 11:00am.  Our Social Worker is Maria Smith and she seems very nice and helpful.
Today we also had our first weekly call with Tiffany from the China program.  While we are paperchasing, she will call us once a week to help us with anything we need.

We received our dossier packet today.  Wow, we have some hoops to jump through.  But our agency is very supportive and we feel excited to get started.

We received our official welcome to the China Program over the phone with the China Director, her assistant and the Director of Social Services at All God's Children International, our Adoption Agency.  We are really excited now.

8/10/05
We mailed off our official adoption application to the Adoption Agency, our I-600A to Immigration and some misc. paperwork and money to the homestudy agency.

We Have The Money!!!!!
We received the check from our refinance for (most of) the rest of the money we need for our adoption.  We can hardly believe it, after this long year of praying and wondering where the money would come from.  Thanks to the crazy housing market in Bakersfield, we were able to get it out of our house.  Thank you to all of you who have prayed, helped us wash cars, sold car wash tickets, gave us items for a yard sale, gave us a yard for the yard sale, and have given us money.  Please know that all the money that has been given to us has been used either for application fees, administrative fees or is being added to what we were able to get out of our house.  Every penny is sooooo appreciated. We will always tell our daughter about all of those that helped us bring her home.
