Minute Man    Don't take "YOUR RIGHTS" for granted

Activism is what makes Elections, Law, and Politics work for Freedom. Activism is a Citizens responsibility. Freedom comes at a price so we all must learn about American History, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights to preserve our Freedoms.

If you think your elected official is dutifully caring out his oath of office to defend the constitution without your oversight and comments then think again . You could  join the ranks of British Loyalist who believed King George III was looking out for their best interests back in 1772. Talk of a new form of government called a Republic, governed by the the people, was all the rage, but it was treasonous at the least. All this talk about rebellion wasn't for you because the common man couldn't be trusted to protect your rank and privilege. It seemed mostly about the taxes anyway and you had to pay them too. So what was the big deal? They seem to be solely out for themselves, each man an individual unto himself, with rights only sovereign states and governments should have. More than likely they will eventually kill each other off anyway, with their muskets and pistols. The British Army should be the sole possessors of such terrible weaponry. The King will do something about this, you can be sure of that !  A government "by the people" would be "by the mob" rule. Look what happened in France. It'll never let it happen here! There must be many more loyal British Subjects here than rebels.
It was easy for you to look back to those days when the King's Army didn't have to keep the colonist in line. He knew his place and you didn't have all these new philosophies stirring up trouble that might take away your status and privileges. Letters to England were social in nature without any mention of how the King needed to conduct the affairs of State. By 1774 you probably broke convention and  wrote your Uncle in England who is said to be very close to the court. Maybe he might be granted an audience with Tea Party"His Majesty" and warn him about the rebellious  notions some of his subjects are entertaining. I'm sure he's already heard of the revolt against his "Tea Tax", and how his subjects here in the "New World" were talking treason. You would be happy to inform him of the whereabouts of any large illegally armed group of British subjects. After all even the King needed to know what was going on to do his job right and to keep you safe from these unruly commoners.
My point is even if it's a monarchy you support,  you still have to communicate to your government when something is going wrong, especially an uprising or revolt. By 1775 you know the King has finally gotten the message when you hear the Army is demanding the surrender of all civilian firearms. They are just too dangerous to let just anyone carry them around. Although you're allowed to keep your dueling pistols and a fine "Brown Bess" your brother in the Army gave you, because of your connections and known loyalty to the Crown. Class has it's privileges!  Our boys will put an end to all this foolishness, onceConcord Bridge an for all. In April of 1775 my brother informed me they're going up to Concord to look for stockpiles of rebel weapons .... Well you know what happened next. You took the Kings powers for granted and lost. The King's Army would never again underestimate the power of the armed citizen or the conviction to his belief in everyone's right to bear arms. Just remember... When they want you to lay down your arms for any reason, the only result would be to diminish your power and increase there's.
There is again another uprising in this land, an uprising this time against the Constitution by those swore an oath to uphold it, but think they know what's best for the rest of us. They try to twist the words to meet their own agendas. Sad fact is most legislators don't even know or try to find out what they are pledging an oath to defend. They focus their attentions on laws concerning their "Politically Correct" whims and rely on the courts to straighten things out. It would not matter in the least if the laws they are trying to make fails to pass Constitutional muster. They think it's there duty to define the Constitution in a manner that fits their needs. They only want to make laws and more laws, under their name of course, to go down in the history books, yes, but also to fulfill the collective desire to empower Federal Authority. After you've studied the Constitution and the background notes written by is crafters, you would see this is exactly what they were trying to prevent.
Some lawmakers have introduced and passed laws that are redundant  and of  lesser consequence to criminals than laws already on the books just to appear to have " Hard on Crime" or "Save the Children" sensibilities. Rather than enforce the law it serves their purpose to recycle real criminals back to the streets where they will contribute to an atmosphere of fear and mayhem. Under these circumstances they will be able to convince the population they need more cops and less rights ( your rights too) for the criminals.
Those same people would take your freedoms in the name of public safety, health, new world order, or anything else they think will sell. They want to take your individual rights for the good of the society as a whole, promising you anything and giving you false hope the world can be a perfect place of peace and harmony. You get reminded of how little you use your rights anyway and they don't apply anymore in the times we live in now. How important are they in the big picture? Don't worry, they will take care of all your problems. They will help raise your children. They will protect you from your armed neighbor ( because anyone with a gun must be a criminal ). They will deal with all the crime if  you would just give them the tools they need to be "Tough on Crime". Truly honest people need not worry.  They would never abuse these powers. It would only be used against the bad guys. They keep asking, "How can one individual cope with all the problems in the modern world ?". You can't solve everything yourself, we have government agencies for that. Who needs individual rights if they can't protect you from the criminals?  I guess you forgot about the second amendment,  and are afraid to confront an attacker, and you still think the police will protect you.
If only everyone would give up their guns, there would be no more murders, suicides would stop, and children would turn into the young adults we all hope for. Over and over I here this from our leaders, the media, and people that I wouldn't characterize as "the brave". Giving up your right has become the "sacrifice" you can do for your county. It is the "cowards sacrifice". The REAL sacrifice is your LIFE in defense of one's FREEDOMS or self-defense against criminals or politicians who would violate your rights. Brave people don't need armies of police to protect them. Can the State keep all those promises?  TRUTH IS police forces are under no obligation to defend  individuals ( though they can at their discretion ), prevent your children from being exposed to abuse, drugs or pornography or in any way be responsible for any crimes. Their charters are setup to promote public safety only!  The way the drug laws are written now they aren't even interested in the public safety anymore. They're after the big ticket items that they can confiscate and sell for CASH. What a racket, did the 4th amendment get trashed somewhere in here for the "higher cause" of combating the war on drugs? These laws have improved the ability for State and Local Governments grow a police state not reliant on public funds for operations and there for not under your control. The improve legal guidelines sanctioned by the courts have allowed their powers to become limitless.
The BOTTOM LINE IS....  YOU have to defend yourself and YOU have to teach your children what values to respect and you have to take back the power of government and take responsibility for your life. The government will give up on you when the costs get to high just like King George III did to his loyal subjects in 1782.  It's called a Republic where the individual is protected not a Democracy where the majority rules. Learn about the differences between these two forms of government and know why our founding fathers choose the one they did. Remind your Senator and Congressman of this difference and keep them on track.
Think in terms of  individual rights above all other laws as our for-fathers did and you will not be confused by the "Spin" these power grabbers would have you believe in, mainly that the majority rules. "Politically Correct" has replaced "Constitutional" as the measure of law in this land. It's a sad commentary on our court system. Knowing the outcome of a trial is a much more efficient way of dispensing justice to the guilty, don't you think? They say it's to hard to control crime and domestic terrorism with all these individual rights tying there hands behind their backs. Protecting privacy ( "Big Brother" will have keys to your encryption codes too), preventing unwarranted search and seizures ("They had a reasonable suspicion you had drugs or weapons."), freedom of speech ( you were "Politically Incorrect".),  right to bear arms ("Cops shot him because they thought they saw a gun.") and so on, will have to go if you want the government to really clean up crime. They need a free reign to protect us from all the that evil out there.
They would have you believe the crafters of our Constitution were just over reacting to their recent experiences with the British Army and never meant to enforce these rights sense they, themselves were aristocratic land baron slave owners. Personally I would rather die at the hand of the terrorist then live without my freedoms. Eventually the power of  the "Armed Citizen" would defeat any real enemy if the government would stay out the way. Who knows, maybe the government will decide you're the next enemy.
Don't underestimate the power of the media. They know the First Amendment  is already lost and  would like to own it for themselves. To do so,  they are now in the service to destroy the Second. I'll give you a good example of how the media slips you a basic principal twist by playing on your emotions, appealing to your logic and delivering it to a massive audience. When a major motion picture like "Star Trek" gets into the act with the "needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few" line Spock said while saving his crew, set the seeds for basic changes in the way you evaluate future questions concerning our society. It made me sick, so here's how I'd "Spin" it back. "As one of the few volunteer members of the minuteman militia do solemnly swear to give my life if necessary to protect the individual rights of the many". Remember ... it was spin on the bullet that finally made the musket an effective weapon, so effective they had to change its name to the "rifle" and so goes with the tongue. Turns out spinning words is much more effective than forking them ! I wonder what name they'll call this kind of tongue?!
