Planetary #1,
Synopsis: An interesting new series, these comics featured in their issue #1 a character named "Doc Brass", who is obviously a version of Doc Savage. He is slated to reappear in issue #5. "Planetary" is a team; don't ask me what their purpose is or who's behind them, 'cause I'm not sure yet.
Review: I quickly became hooked on this new series. It is odd but attractive, well-written, and runs the range from humorous to eerie. Leaves me feeling somewhat off-balance. Contains a smidgen of crudeness sometimes, but it's used deliberately and in very small doses for a specific effect. All in all I'm looking forward to reading more, with (or even without) Doc Brass.
Baby Boomer Collectibles (magazine), April 1996,
Synopsis: Features Doc on the cover, and a 12-page article about the Man of Bronze, from the pulps through the present, with (of course) the emphasis on Doc collectibles. (Magazine found by Steven Ogden.)
Review: A nice summary of the Doc Savage history; nothing new for most fans, but a good "Doc" cover.
