The "Spirality" was
one of many ships of her type owned by Everard. She and many of the
others were employed in carrying road-stone from the West Country. They
were known as 'dead men's shoes' as it was the only way you could get to
sail on one permanently. I too was there for only a month relieving in
the summer of 1961.
Most of the captains took
them out new, and spent the rest of their career on them. After
the "Spirality" I went back to the "Averity" for a
time. |
