| Life, Love, and the Pursuit of...good Chinese? |
| It's Autumn...finally. The Autumnal Equinox marked the beginning of Fall. I like warm weather, don't get me wrong - but Autumn is my time of year. September, October, and November - I live for those three months. I wasn't always like this: reflective, meditative, cherishing Autumn over Summer. When I was younger, I lived for Summer for the same reason that most kids do - no school. Even after that part of my life had passed, I still looked forward to Summer more than the other seasons. Why? I don't really know. Maybe it was because of the warmth, or maybe (once I moved to a resort town) it was because the towns came alive during Summer. Whatever is was, it had a hold on me. If asked now, I don't think I could pinpoint the moment of the shift that occured within me, but it certainly happened...is happening, to be exact. I like to call it 'an awakening' - an awakening of something deep within me, blossoming, growing as I get older. Fall, with its rich colors, is still full of life, but it's a peaceful existence. With Summer ending, things slow down around here. Shops close, the tourons leave (most of them anyway), and things calm down. I love water - the ocean, the river - but living here has one major drawback for me: Where are all the good Chinese restaurants?! The best one is 45 minutes away inland. There are two take-out Chinese places here, but I want a nice, sit-down restaurant with quality food to match. Tell you one thing: If seafood is your thing, then this is the place for you. :P |
