Triano signs three-year deal with Raptors

Former Canadian national coach Jay Triano has signed a three-year contract as head coach of the Toronto Raptors, general manager Bryan Colangelo said on Monday.

"After undertaking a thorough evaluation process, it is clear that Jay is the right coach to guide this team in the future," Colangelo said on the team's website (www.nba.com/raptors).

Triano, 50, who replaced Sam Mitchell in December, was head coach of the Canadian men's national team from 1998-2004. He represented Canada at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics.
