| Into the very last of the 70's Dodge began to gain lots of cash from the success of the Omni. With this cash Dodge began to explore into a concept vehicle based of the Omni's platform. This concept vehicle was the rampage, a cross between the Omni and 80's Charger and the Dodge Ram (get it... Rampage). This hybrid FWD truck began Dodge's journey into the unknown world of hybrid vehicles (Caravan is a cross between a car and utility van). Anyways the Rampage began it's journey's into the dawn of the 80's as a "Sport Family Pickup". However it's dawn didn't look too healthy becouse sales were not very high, just high enough to keep the production together for a few more years. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Through the rest of the early 80's Dodge tested with differant Sport versions of the Rampage, possibly trying to increase sales. However by 1984 the Rampage was in for it's last run (in 84 they put the Turismo front end on the Rampage, see pic above)., and finally (in a tone of sadness) the Rampage was cut of production. As unfortunate as it was Carroll Shelby had a particular liking towards the Rampage and asked for Dodge to continue the Rampage in a Shelby version with a Shelby Turbo (on known prototpye Shelby Dodge Rampage was made), but Dodge said no and Shelby had to stick to the Charger. Luckly we can all dream of Shelby Rampages by putting Shelby Charger front ends on them and drop Shelby Turbo's into them too ;). As sad as it was that the Rampage never lasted very long, the Rampage and Scamp today is a very rare sport pickup, and if you get to see one in the near future, consider yourself been given a gift from the gods above. Oh ya, Rampages kick Stang ass! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
