8/31/2004  Why I am opposed to Martial Law

My reason for opposition to martial law has to do with lack of choice.  Once it is imposed there is Severe restrictions on everything from travel to group gatherings to free trade.  In true form if I wanted to leave the city it would not be allowed.  If I wanted to engage in free speech protest it would not be allowed.  If I wanted to stay on the street past curfew, it would not be allowed.

My choice is denied, in fact done correctly for a long period of time, Martial Law could prevent the thought of choice from entering my mind.  You are not able to resist because you do not know what the concept of resisting is.

Take an example of a child born into a society that has been under that situation for some time.  Does the child grow up knowing anything different?  Not if the Police State is done correctly.  There would be no resistance because the concept is never implemented into the young mind.

The best illustration of this concept remains the overused example of "1984."
