Candle Magic

Candle magic is a wonderful way for me to perform spells, and enhance rituals. It is also a great hobby, I love candles, of all shapes, sizes and colors. It is also a way of relaxing and calming when I mediate. I like to sit in the dark with a couple of candles burning, watching the flames, letting my mind relax and wander, opening up to where ever it leads me. There are a number of ways to make candles and a number of spells that can be performed with candles. I have a couple of favorite ways to make candles, shared with me from friends, who make them also. I used to buy my candles until I learned to make them. Making them myself I can add my personal energy to them. Sometimes it can be dangerous, the method of making them, but by watching carefully, and not leaving the candle in the process of making it for any length of time, will make it an enjoyable experience.

How you make your candles, and dress them depends on what you would like to use the candle for. Dressing the candles, can be done in a couple ways. You can anoint it with a variety of oils you have purchased for different uses. You can draw inscriptions on the candles, use different colored candles for different reasons and place crystals in the candles.

If you are anointing a candle for love, you might use an oil based on rose petals or patchouli. For courage, you might want to use geranium, or mint for money.

To make a candle anointing oil, the oil base can be simply olive oil, but a good quality. Take a jar and fill it three-quarters full of the flower or herb you are going to use. Use only fresh items, and slowly pour the oil over the herb and fill the jar. Put the top on and let the sealed jar stand for three to four days. Every twenty four hours, turn the jar upside down. At that time, take another jar of equal size and fill it three quarters full with a new batch of herbs and strain the first batch into this one to fill it. Cap the second jar and do the same thing as with the first. Continue this process for about two weeks, and you will have an oil that has all the essence of the herb you are using.

If this is too much for you to do, you can also buy candle anointing oils, the price varies on the quality.

When you dress the candle you should start at the center and rub the oil into the candle, and then from the center out to the other end, thinking about the person for which the candle is for , or for the purpose.
