Pilots of the famous Jasta Boelcke, the German fighter squadron formed by German Ace Oswald Boelcke, Jasta is short for Jagdstaffel meaning Fighter Squadron. Previous to the set up of the Jasta's, Pilots fought in a 'lone Wolf' manner, Oswald Boelcke developed a new method of using aircraft in large highly trained groups. Many of those early ideas on tactics and aerial combat developed by Boelcke remain in use today by modern fighter pilots. |
