BUFFALO=MONITOR MINING COMPANY
Incorporated (in 1901) Under the Laws of the State of Oregon
Certificates from Oregon tend to be a bit harder to find. This one was (partially ) issued on November 29th, 1907 for 1,000 shares. The corporate seal is punched into the lower-left. The trustees' signature is the only thing missing. In their haste to get stocks issued as soon as possible, the company officers would sometimes fill out a number of stocks ahead of time in popular denominations, such as 1,000 shares. I have seen a bunch of early mining companies that did this. A beautiful vignette shows an early ore mill with mountains in the background. It is quite detailed - if you look closely you will also see a steam locomotive and horse-drawn wagons. A couple of prospectors are shown in the foreground. Offices at Portland, Oregon

SILVER KING MINING COMPANY
Incorporated (in March of 1909) Under the Laws of the State of Oregon
This certificate was actually issued to the company secretary, W.S. Risley, on October 7th, 1911. Issued for 5,000 shares worth 25 cents each. Offices at Albany, Oregon. The seal and background highlights are a shiny-gold color. Vignette shows prospectors panning for gold in a stream - to the right you will see men hydraulic mining (very few mining stocks show hydraulic mining operations). There is a notation written in red ink across the front that says that this stock was "Returned to the Treasury" by the trustee at some point.

Incorporated Under the Laws of Oregon
Issued on May 11th, 1903 for 500 shares worth $1 each. Shiny-gold corporate seal. (Stock# 413) Contains three excellent mining vignettes - the one on the right is my favorite, showing a prospector panning for gold in a stream while smoking a pipe. Offices at SUMPTER, OREGON. The stock receipt is attached to the left side. Stamp cancelled

A.F. & A.M. MINING COMPANY
Organized Under the Laws of the State of Oregon
What an unusual name - I'm not sure what A.F. & A.M. stands for? Issued on September 8th, 1911 for 250 shares worth 10 cents each. (Stock# 111) Shiny-gold corporate seal (much more shiny than appears in scan). Vignette shows six early miners filling ore carts in a tunnel. Offices at Portland, Oregon. UNCANCELLED
