The Walls of Horror
I have sat and sat here in front of this computer trying to
figure out just how to introduce these pages that you are about to view.
Some of the pages deserve an explanation, and then, others do not.
I have set the pages up so that the opening page will have a brief
poem, statement or something for you to read, but if you choice not to read
, you can click onto the icon and go straight to the image page.
Now let me tell you a bit about how these collages came about. During
the summer of 1996, I broke my knee , went back to work for 4 day, and then
broke my ankle, and had to have a metal plate put in. It was during
these two breaks of my bones, that I was able to have time to go and 'work'
seriously on my past. Oh it had already been 'bubbling' up for sometime,
and I kept pushing it back down, but this time, there was no where for me
to go, but to counseling!.
Now
there is one problem with me talking, I don't talk. Charolett soon
found out that I could explain what I was trying to tell her by drawing (a
practice she uses with small children and crayons). So, this
became my form of 'talking'. Just about each session, I had a new 'subject'
to explore, something that happened in my past. Some of the collages
were done right there in her office (50 minute session) while others were
'assignments' . She would send me home with a question like: "how
did they make you feel?" I would go back the next session and the collage
that I had created would spawn a new set of question from her. Some
questions I could answer, other answers became another
collage.
Some
of the pages are
graphic in nature and will
trigger memories for some. I
still get that 'sick ' feeling in the pit of my stomach when I look
at some of them, and then I give a deep sigh and I remember that it was 32
years ago, and they can't hurt me any longer. I'm not saying
that I don't still hurt or feel the pain, gosh, I will always feel that,
but I am working everyday to lessen the 'hold'.
So, without further
