| Mai Valentine, despite her corny name, is a pretty cool character. She symbolizes Girl Power for all us girls out there. Mai's boyfriend (although they never actually say that in the show) is Joey Wheeler, and his whole inspiration during the Battle City finals is to save her from the Shadow Realm. Her signature card is the Harpie Lady, and I just recently figured out that a Harpy is a mythical creature... except they are usually portrayed as old lady birds instead of the young Harpie Sisters. Mai had a bad past... her parents weren't all that interested in her. She worked at casinos and stuff for a long time, and that's where she started playing Duel Monsters. Mai cheated at a duel once by putting a different perfume on each of her cards so she would know which one was coming next! Mai does have a revealing outfit, but hey, she's very girly... |
