Canadian LeMans Race Series Protagonists

The Team Kingston entry, a Mercedes CLK LM. This new car replaces the front engined Marcos which served us well in the first two races, claiming outright victory at VMP and moral victory at PNMR. The Marcos, while unquestionably fast, proved to be a handful, even for the skilled Kingston team of McEwen and Brown.

The Canadian LeMans Race Series is a highly competitive series being run over the 1999/2000 winter season. The final race will be on March 5, 2000 coinciding with the first race of the new F1 season. CLMRS is for LeMans type Enduro cars and all venues run the highly acclaimed Scuderia McEwen International "LeMans" software, featuring the use of virtual fuel and compulsory pit stops. The rules basically are as follows:

The Team Toronto entry, a Porsche GT1 EVO. This car is fast and smooth. In fact, it is almost too easy to drive and not a car for a person who likes a challenge. Such is Team Toronto, a set of drivers crippled with digital arthritis (alleged) and certainly living on past glories. With a car this easy to drive, its surprising that the Toronto team of Tripp and Brown haven't run away with the series.

The start of a Canadian LeMans Series Race.

Two new Mercedes CLK's starting beside the venerable Porsche GT1 EVO which eventually won the sixteen race, four venue competition held over the winter.
Team Toronto won the series, but it went down to the final race. A total of 5,517 racing laps were completed (a distance of 47 actual, not scale, miles).
The fearless Team Kingston drivers put up a valiant effort but a botched pit stop cost them the final race and the series. Such is life in LEMANS Enduro racing!!
Barry Tripp of Team Toronto captured the Super Pole Award for the best overall qualifying average at the four circuits.
