Cornmeal Fried Shrimp

 

Ingredients:

1/2 Cup Yellow Cornmeal

1-1/2 Teaspoons Garlic Powder

1-1/2 Teaspoons Onion Powder

3/4 Teaspoons Old Bay Seasoning

3/4 Teaspoons Salt

1/8 Teaspoons Cayenne Pepper

1 Pound Uncooked Medium Shrimp Or 1/2 Pound Large Shrimp, Deveined, Peeled

1 Large Egg White, Beaten To Blend

Vegetable Canola Or Peanut Oil For Frying

Directions:

 Whisk cornmeal, and next 5 ingredients together in a shallow bowl. Mix shrimp with egg white in a small bowl. Drain shrimp and toss in cornmeal mixture to coat.

Add enough oil in a heavy large saucepan to 2 inches in depth. Heat oil to medium-high. Fry shrimp in 2 batches until golden brown about 2 minutes per batch. Using slotted spoon, transfer shrimp to paper towels to drain; sprinkle with salt.
