On the 4th of May 1929 Ella van Heemstra and Joseph Hepburn-Ruston have a daghter Audrey Kathleen Heemstra Ruston. |

1934
Audrey is sent to an English boarding school by her mo and spends the summer hols staying with a coal miners family, this her mother hoped would help her learn english. |
|
|
|
1935
Audrey's farther walks out an event she describes as "the most traumatic of her life". This is also the year in which she starts ballet classes. |

1939
Just before the outbreak of the seacond world war Audrey's mother decides to leave England and move to neutral Holland. They settle in the town of Arnhem. |

1940
Nazis march thrugh Arnhem and the vast majority of her familys property is confiscated.
At this time her father is in prison in England for being a fascist. |
|
|
|
1941
The situation in Arnhem grows worse rations are allready down to in-tolerable levels. Despite this Audrey enrolles in a ballet school and becomes the star pupil. |
|
|
|
1942
As a reprisal for a resistance atack on a train (which they were not a part of) Audreys Uncle and four people unknown to her are executed by the nazis. Audrey witneses many other atrocitys comited by the nazis and is quoted to have said "Don't discount anything awfull you hear or read obout the Nazis. Its worse than you could ever imagine." |

1943
Audrey finds an outlet for her creativity performing at so called "Blackout Performances". She also delivers messages for the dutch resistance (Not un-common in occupied Holland. |

|
1944
On 17th September the battle of Arnhem begins and is subsiquently won by the Germans. All the locals are ordered to leave or risk being shot on site. Audrey and her family take in 40 regfugees. Still food is very scarce and Audrey becomes so weak she can no longer dance. |

|
|
1945
On Audreys 16th birthday 4th May 1945 Holland is liberated by the allies. By this time Audrey is very ill from malnutrition. Her mother moves them both to Amsterdam where Audrey joins the Sonia Gaskell, the top name in Dutch ballet. |

|
|
1946
Audrey begins working for a photographer as a model she has a natural flair for it, allthogh she still dreams of being a dancer. |
|
|
|
1948
Audrey gets her first film role in a Dutch film called "Nederlands in Zeven Lessen (Dutch in seven leassons)". She also decides that maybe dance isnt for her. |

1949
Audrey gets a film role, as a cigatett girl in "Laghter in Paradise". She also forms a relationship with 28 yr old James Hanson. |

|
|
|
|
|
1950
Audrey gets a small role in "The Lavander Hill Mob" (In this authers humble opinion one of the best films ever). No-one on the set of the film thinks much of Audrey except a young british actor called Alec Guiness (Later to become Sir Alec Guiness) who said that she had "Star Quality". |

|
|
1951
The Lavandre hill mob gets Film of the year. Audrey is offered a majour role in "The Secret People". She also screen tests for William Wylers "Roman Holliday" and gets the role. She heads of to New York. Audrey gets engaged to Hanson. |
|
|
|
1952
Audrey shoots "Roman Holiday" with William Wyler when asked what she had learned off him she says "almost everything". Audrey and Hanson split. |
|
|
|

1953
Roman holiday opens and makes Audrey a star. In septemner Audrey begins shooting "Sabrina". This is also the year she first meets Mel Ferrer. |

|
|
|
|
1954
Audrey gets a Best Actress oscar for "Roman Holidayy". Ferrer proposes and they are married on 24th September. |
