Please read our DISCLAIMER. When
thinking about 'lights' for your vintage camper, you can have ac, dc,
gas or
sky lights. Also, you may want exterior lights as well as inside
lights. This is a good source for GAS LIGHTS
They sell
both inside and outside lights, that can work on propane, natural gas
and butane. Here are a couple different models of indoor lights
and they offer more models - inside and outside.
![]() ![]() When thinking about 'skylights' I
don't
know if anyone has ever installed one in a camper? I am sure
there are some newer campers or ones that innovated people have put a
skylight in there camper that are out there! Maybe you will
be the first. Here are a couple of places that make custom
skylights: SKYLIGHTS
and INTER-SKY
SKYLIGHTS A Skylight is a type of window set into
ceiling or roof; it permits sunlight to penetrate the area. Skylights
made of sheet metal
are light in weight and superior in strength. Metal fabricated
Skylights supersede iron made since there is no expansion and thus less
leaks and glass breakage. Metal made skylights are also
Fireproof. Now I don't know if a skylight is for a camper, but I
thought this looked cool !
![]() Ok, now for the more practical, I
guess,
ac or dc lights, there are too many to mention. You can goto
specialty lights stores or home improvement store, rv dealers or
discount places like wal-mart, kmart, etc and find most any type or
style you want. Here are a couple places that have specialty
lights: LIGHTING
4 SALE and SPECIALTY
SUPPLIES they carry a wide assortments of lights and
supplies. Below are a couple pictures of some lights they carry.

different , then maybe check these places or a similar one.
Outdoor lighting is something alot of people like for there camper. Basically, there are (2) types of outside lighting: mood and area. Mood lighting is for effects and creating a warm environment when sitting outside and enjoying the fresh air, fire, ect. Area lighting is more important when you need to see what you are doing, like fixing food, eating or playing cards, etc. These can be ac or dc as well. Here are a couple places you can check in addition to local places: OUTDOOR LIGHTING and LAMPS PLUS If you are interested in solar lighting, here is one place to look at: SOAR LIGHTS Below are some outdoor lights, second is a solar light. ![]() ![]() I would suggest for outside
lighting
that you go with dc and/or solar. They are more safe than ac
lights outside. The solar lights are readily available
anymore and at reasonable prices. One thing to remember solar lights do
need sunshine to charge the batteries, but can work in a camping
environment. For good area lighting though you may need to goto
ac type lighting for better lighting. But, using dc can work but
you may need more lights to get the same lighting. For mood
lighting the dc and solar types work very well. These are just
some examples and there are many more. Alot of people seem to
like what are called the 'rope' lights which are a string of low
voltage ac or dc lights that work well to enhance an area.
Another thing to remember about dc lights is, if they are not battery or come with a power supply, then you will need to supply the dc voltage for them. You can check the WIRING page on the resource site for dc help. Good luck and hope this gives you some ideas and is helpful. [ page
