What our names mean

Tovah is from Hebrew meaning "goodness" Rachel is from the Bible. Tovah was named after her great-uncle Tevye who was a good man who lived to a ripe old age.

Eliana Ivy (Eliana Chaya in Hebrew) was named because Mommy and Daddy really liked the meaning of the name Eliana. It means 'G-d answered' because she was our answer to a prayer for a second child. It also turned out to be a wonderful name for her because she was so sick and our prayers for her recovery were answered. Ivy is for Jan's grandmother. Jan was very close to her as a child. Jan always felt like grandmother Ivy was watching over Eliana when she was sick.

Asher means 'fortunate" Jan has always liked that name and wanted a little boy named Asher. Joseph is for Frank's grandfather who perished at Auschwitz. Jan and Frank wanted to honor his memory.
